Boss Drops

1. Ender Dragon Drops

The Ender Dragon is the largest and most powerful boss in Minecraft. It resides in The End, and defeating it is necessary to “beat” the game.

Drops from the Ender Dragon:

Dragon Egg (Only from the first kill)

  • The Dragon Egg is a unique block that appears on top of the End Portal after you defeat the dragon for the first time.
  • It cannot be mined directly because breaking it with any tool causes it to teleport away.
  • To obtain it, you can:
    1. Use a torch or slab method: Break the block underneath it, place a torch, and let it fall onto the torch.
    2. Use a piston: Push the egg with a piston to break it into an item.
  • Uses:
    • Acts as a trophy, showing you’ve defeated the Ender Dragon.
    • Can be placed anywhere, but has no functional purpose.

Experience Points (XP)

  • The first Ender Dragon kill drops 12,000 XP, which is enough to reach level 68 from zero.
  • Subsequent kills drop 500 XP, which is still a good amount but much lower.
  • Uses:
    • Can be used for enchanting, making it valuable for tools, weapons, and armor.

End Gateway Activation

  • Killing the Ender Dragon creates an End Gateway.
  • These floating portals allow players to reach Outer End Islands, where you can find:
    • End Cities (which contain Elytras and Shulker Boxes)
    • Chorus Fruit plants
  • You can kill the Ender Dragon 20 times, and each time, a new End Gateway portal appears.

2. Wither Drops

The Wither is a three-headed undead boss summoned by placing 3 Wither Skeleton Skulls on top of Soul Sand or Soul Soil.

Drops from the Wither:

Nether Star (1 Guaranteed Drop)

  • The Nether Star is used exclusively for crafting a Beacon.
  • Beacons provide powerful effects such as:
    • Haste (faster mining)
    • Speed
    • Strength
    • Regeneration
  • Since there is no natural way to obtain Nether Stars, farming Withers is the only way to get multiple Beacons.

Experience Points (50 XP)

  • The Wither drops 50 XP, which is a decent amount but far lower than the Ender Dragon.

Large Explosion on Death

  • When the Wither dies, it creates a powerful explosion, similar to TNT.
  • This destroys nearby blocks, making it risky to fight it in open areas.
  • Tip: Fight the Wither underground in a controlled space or in The End, where it can’t cause much damage.

3. Elder Guardian Drops

The Elder Guardian is a mini-boss found in Ocean Monuments. Three Elder Guardians spawn in each monument.

Drops from the Elder Guardian:

Wet Sponge (1 Guaranteed Drop)

  • Sponges are rare and only obtained from Elder Guardians or found inside the Ocean Monument.
  • Uses:
    • Removes water in large areas.
    • Can be dried in a furnace and reused.
  • Farming Tip: Since there are only 3 Elder Guardians per monument, finding multiple Ocean Monuments is the best way to get more sponges.

Prismarine Shards (0-2, Increased with Looting)

  • These light blue crystals are used to craft Prismarine blocks, which are used in:
    • Building Ocean Monument-style structures.
    • Crafting Sea Lanterns, an underwater light source.
  • Looting III increases the drop rate.

Prismarine Crystals (0-1, Increased with Looting)

  • Prismarine Crystals are used for crafting Sea Lanterns.
  • Looting III helps increase the number of drops.

Raw Cod (0-2, Increased with Looting)

  • Acts as food, but isn’t particularly special.
  • Drops more with Looting.

4. Warden Drops (Not a Traditional Boss, but Extremely Powerful)

The Warden is not classified as a boss but is the strongest mob in Minecraft. It does not naturally respawn and must be summoned by triggering a Sculk Shrieker.

Drops from the Warden:

Sculk Catalyst (1 Guaranteed Drop)

  • Sculk Catalysts are special blocks that spread Sculk when mobs die near them.
  • Uses:
    • Farming Sculk Blocks (for decoration or XP storage).
    • Creating XP farms, as Sculk holds experience.

Experience Points (5 XP)

  • Surprisingly, the Warden only drops 5 XP, which is very low compared to its massive power.
  • The low XP makes killing the Warden not worth the risk—it’s better to just avoid it.

Does Not Respawn

  • Unlike the Ender Dragon or Wither, the Warden does not naturally respawn.
  • The only way to summon another Warden is by triggering a Sculk Shrieker again.
